Another season of change is upon us. I will never get used to the specific feeling of nostalgia and longing you get when you realize that time has passed once again. Spring especially makes us feel warm, raw, and tender. A similar feeling I got when I visited Elio Volpe earlier this week. Planted on the corner of Cambie and W 17th and alongside newly bloomed cherry blossoms, Elio Volpe brings you only the softest feelings. The newly opened restaurant is beautifully decorated with palettes and textures that remind you of warm sand. The space seats more than 115 guests yet operate seamlessly at the calmest of frequencies and the food is just as good.
🌀 Food
I had dinner with friends so we opted for the Dine ‘Alla Famiglia menu. Our waitress explained that we could choose our dishes or she could make the selection for us. In good GRUBZ style, we opted for the surprise menu. We got an array of dishes; every single one was just as comforting as the other. My favourites were the Tuna Tartar, the Spaghetti Al Sesamo, and the Grilled Lamb Chops. Each bite was generous, soft and coastal in flavour.
🌀 Mood
High ceilings and a balmy atmosphere is the first thing you will notice when walking in. Every corner is rounded giving the restaurant an easy-to-digest feel. The conversation did not exceed a heartfelt hum, reflecting Elio’s sensitivity and influence.
Elio Volpe is as tender as it gets. Thoughtful, buttery and kind-hearted. It’s the place to be if you are looking to spend some time somewhere stylish but without feeling like you are anywhere else but home. Elio Volpe is for those feeling a tenderness for life.
