Feeling distant from the ones we love is a normal feeling. It is also something that naturally happens to all of us from time to time as our lives become increasingly busy. It is not a feeling we desire but it serves a purpose of reminding us that we have people in our lives whom we desperately want to reconnect with. So when we feel distant from someone and it is time to reconnect, I believe that Ask for Luigi is the place to feel close again. Nestled on the corner of Alexander Street, Ask for Luigi offers the perfect environment to grab a loved one and have long overdue quality time over some of the most delicious Italian food in Vancouver.
🍇 Food
My partner and I have not had a proper Italian meal in a long time. So when we lucked out last Friday and got a walk-in spot for two at Ask for Luigi, we decided to go all out. It was a gloomy Friday night so we ordered a Negroni and a Limoncello Spritz to start in hopes of attracting summer weather. For our appetizers, we split the Radicchio & Gorgonzola Salad and Luigi’s Meatballs. As for dinner, we got the Radiatore Verde & Mushroom Trifolati Pasta to share and two glasses of Nebbiolo to pair with it. After some good conversation and much-needed digestion, we opted for a shot of Grappa as a nightcap. Every single bite brought us deeper into the conversation. Fresh and filling, we left feeling so grateful for our shared experience. Food this good with someone you love only serves one purpose: connection.
🍇 Mood
From the outside view you already know that Ask for Luigi is what you need to shorten the distance between you, yourself, and your company. The combination of natural light and open windows against the dark wooden features is the perfect combination for intimacy without suffocation. Their service was highly knowledgeable and felt exactly like family. Candles at each table provide an ambiance of light that will make you not want to take your eyes off whoever sits across from you. Ask for Luigi affects closeness so seamlessly you forget you and your guests are even in public, to begin with.
If you are looking for a place to go to revitalize your relationships then Ask for Luigi is my recommendation. From the moment you enter the restaurant, you’ll be enwrapped into a bubble where the only things that exist are incredible food and good company. The only two remedies I know that can cure all feelings of distance.
