As in all cities, every neighbourhood tends to offer both go-to spots and some hidden gems you've yet to discover. For this review, my neighbourhood was Commercial Drive, and the yet-to-be-discovered gem was Collective Goods. Nestled away, this restaurant invites you into a world where French chic meets substance—offering a dining experience that's as warm as it is refined. From its artfully composed dishes to its serene ambiance, Collective Goods is a place to have a graceful dining experience.
Food 🍐:
My best friend is one of the many reasons I love food. We used to cater together during university, and the rest blossomed from there. I went to Collective Goods in her and another friend's company. We had our version of a girl's night out, and it was the perfect place to do it. The menu at Collective Goods is a testament to thoughtful creativity and subtle elegance. My favourites were the beets & boursin, the chicory salad, and the halibut. Each dish offered richness, beauty and flavour with each bite.
Mood 🍐:
The atmosphere at Collective Goods embodies grace in every detail. The soft, warm lighting and rustic textures with modern touches make it feel like stepping into a Parisian postcard. It's the ideal setting for those quiet, giggly conversations that tend to happen over a glass of wine or, in our case, a bottle. The service, too, is an extension of this grace—attentive, with each gesture adding to the sense of ease and sophistication.
At its heart, Collective Goods captures the essence of French dining—an appreciation for simplicity elevated to an art form. It's a restaurant where, whether you are there to catch up on conversation or seek a moment of respite amid life, Collective Goods promises an experience that's graceful and grounding.
